Sussex Asphalte were asked to complete a 260m² mastic asphalt paving across a 5 birth office/workshop space.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Sussex Asphalte were approached to replace the existing failed mastic asphalt paving installed over a 5-berth office/workshop space below. The first coat was a 10mm waterproofing grade, followed by a 15mm paving grade recreational duty asphalt with 25% added 6mm granite chippings. We also laid additional asphalt to create suitable falls to existing rainwater outlet positions and ensure effective drainage across street paving at the highway level. Working closely with our client allowed us to ensure any enabling works and building works in connection could be undertaken in a timely manner and ensure compliance with the relevant building regulations.

PROJECT CHALLENGES

One area of the works was close to a busy bus stop and,by monitoring the footfall, we were able to ensure works to this section were undertaken at off peak times, minimising disruption and risk to members of the public.A large ventilation system was in place to the rear of the property which was required to remain in-situ and operational throughout the works. As a result we wererequired to ensure a suitable weathering detail was applied whilst keeping the unit undisturbed throughout.
